The reduction of British Forces from 1970 meant the closure of some of their schools and it was decided by the Australian and New Zealand Governments that Primary and Secondary Education should be provided for the services children of both countries in Singapore.
In September, 1971, four ANZ Schools were opened:
- ANZ High School Changi, the former RAF Grammar School
- ANZ Primary School Woodlands, the former Royal Navy School
- ANZ Primary School, Tengah
- ANZ Primary School, Selarang
All schools flourished and provided a valuable service to the community both in their normal role and as centers for the night classes and public meetings.
The schools were visited annually by inspectors and balanced education was being provided.
